Bake it out: Chewy chocolate chip cinnamon cookies

I may not be able to cook, but I can bake the hell out of some holiday chewy chocolate chip cookies. Here is my special (and quick!) recipe for ultra-chewy, gooey-soft chocolate chip cookies with a little kick. Despite the mouth-watering outcome, they're surprisingly easy to whip up in about 20 minutes.

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup organic brown sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • A pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg

Start off by preheating your oven to 375 degrees. Take a medium-sized bowl and mix sugar and shortening until smooth, then beat eggs and throw them in along with the baking soda. Make sure to dissolve the baking soda in 1 tablespoon of hot water before adding.

Sift the flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg together and add to the mix you already have going. Add vanilla and pour in whatever chocolate pieces of heaven you haven't already eaten while preparing the dough.

Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto a shiny cookie pan. No need to grease.

Bake for 8-9 minutes. Let them cool for as long as you can stand it then serve 'em up.

You, my friend, are now a level-one domesticated diva.
